Novo Nordisk Foundation to build quantum chip factory in Copenhagen

The Novo Nordisk Foundation has announced plans to build a new production facility for quantum chips in Copenhagen. The initiative aims to strengthen Europe's production capacity within the field of quantum technology.

Mads Krogsgaard Thomsen, the foundation's CEO, stated that quantum technology is expected to be one of the most defining scientific and technological areas of this century. To support this, the foundation has committed more than 2.9 billion DKK to building a world-class quantum ecosystem in Denmark and Europe. The new factory is expected to open in 2027.
