NPFL secures $7.5m title sponsorship deal with Euromatch Group

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has secured a three-year title sponsorship deal with Euromatch Group, a Poland-based investment company specializing in the gaming industry. The agreement is valued at $7.5 million, providing $2.5 million annually to the league.

NPFL Chairman Gbenga Elegbeleye announced that 60 percent of the sponsorship funds will be distributed directly to the participating clubs to improve player wages and welfare. The partnership, which will see the competition rebranded as the ‘Euromatch NPFL’, aims to increase the league's international visibility and bring its organization closer to European standards.

Euromatch Group Chairman Sacli Semih stated that the investment is driven by Nigeria's economic potential and the abundance of football talent in the country. The unveiling ceremony in Abuja was attended by Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President Ibrahim Gusau and several former Super Eagles stars, including Daniel Amokachi and Samson Siasia.

In a separate and dramatic development, the NPFL administration is undergoing significant changes. Chairman Gbenga Elegbeleye was removed from his position less than 24 hours before the new season was scheduled to begin, following broader leadership resignations within the NFF and the National Sports Commission's directive for league chairmen to hand over administration to their Chief Operating Officers.
