NPFL secures $7.5m Euromatch deal amid leadership changes

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has finalized a three-year title sponsorship agreement with Euromatch Group, a Warsaw-based sports entertainment and gaming company. The deal is valued at $7.5 million (approximately ₦10.5 billion), providing $2.5 million annually to the league.

Starting from the 2026/27 season, the league will be commercially rebranded as the ‘Euromatch NPFL’. Under the partnership terms, 60 per cent of the sponsorship funds will be distributed directly to participating clubs to support player welfare, wages, and operational costs. Euromatch Group Chairman Sacli Semih stated that the investment is intended to increase the international visibility of Nigerian football talent and bring the league closer to “European standards”.

The agreement was unveiled in Abuja at a ceremony attended by Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President Ibrahim Gusau and former Super Eagles stars such as Daniel Amokachi and Samson Siasia.

In a separate development, the NPFL administration is undergoing significant leadership changes. Less than 24 hours before the scheduled start of the new season, Chairman Gbenga Elegbeleye was removed from his position. This follows broader leadership resignations within the NFF and a directive from the National Sports Commission for league chairmen to hand over administration to their Chief Operating Officers.
