Népszabadság relaunches online and as a weekly print publication
The Hungarian publication Népszabadság has officially relaunched online, ten years after its sudden suspension in 2016. The new outlet, operating via nszo.hu, functions as an online news portal covering domestic and international public affairs, society, and economy through reports, analyses, and interviews. It is also scheduled to release a weekly printed edition.
As part of this relaunch, the editorial staff of Népszava will merge into the Népszabadság team. While Népszava will continue to exist as a printed weekly, much of its content will now be integrated into the Népszabadság weekly format. The relaunch is supported by Liberty Press Kft., which holds publishing rights for Jelen and Népszava.
The ownership structure of the new venture includes 90 percent held by the 4Sight Media Group Zrt., a company founded by four private individuals, and 10 percent held by editor-in-chief Ákos Tóth. The 4Sight Media Group has reportedly secured enough funding to cover the publication's first two years of operation.
