NRL likely to move Warriors preliminary final to Eden Park

The NRL is likely to move the New Zealand Warriors' preliminary final to Eden Park if the club advances that far in the finals series. While the Warriors have been cleared to play their week-one match against the Dolphins at Mt Smart Stadium, ARL Commission chairman Peter V’landys indicated that the larger capacity of Eden Park would be required for a week-three fixture.

V’landys stated there is a 90 per cent certainty that the match would move to the 50,000-seat venue to accommodate the high demand for tickets. The Warriors have seen significant local support, selling out 41 of their last 46 home games. Although the club expressed a preference to remain at Mt Smart Stadium, they acknowledge the necessity of moving to Eden Park to accommodate a larger audience.
