NSCDC and TETFund partner to enhance security in Nigerian tertiary institutions

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has entered a partnership with the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) and the International Academy for Gender and Peace (IAGP) to enhance security management at tertiary institutions.

In Abuja, NSCDC Commandant General Prof. Ahmed Audi launched a four-day workshop for 600 Chief Security Officers from across Nigeria's 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. The initiative aims to address rising threats on campuses, including kidnapping, cultism, cybercrime, drug abuse, and gender-based violence.

Prof. Audi noted that security challenges from the wider society are increasingly impacting academic environments. The workshop is designed to re-tool security personnel with modern skills and proactive intelligence-gathering techniques to identify and neutralize vulnerabilities before they escalate into major incidents.
