NSCDC arrests two in Kwara for trafficking and illegal medical practice
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Kwara State Command has arrested two individuals in separate operations involving human trafficking and illegal medical practices.
Victor Barry, 22, was arrested for allegedly trafficking a 17-year-old girl to Mali. The suspect reportedly promised the teenager employment in Senegal but instead transported her to Lagos, where she was handed over to an unidentified person for onward travel. The victim's mother reported the case, and the suspect claimed the destination was changed to Mali by an agent named Joy. Investigations are ongoing to facilitate the girl's return to Nigeria.
In a separate incident, 56-year-old Bello Maruf was arrested for allegedly operating an unauthorized medical facility. Maruf reportedly admitted to performing multiple abortions but could not provide medical qualifications or a valid license. NSCDC operatives recovered medical instruments suspected to have been used in the procedures during the operation.
