NSG launches first women commando training course in Manesar

The National Security Guard (NSG) Training Academy in Manesar has launched its inaugural Mahila Commando Conversion Course. This 12-week residential program, which began on 24 August 2026, is designed to train women personnel from State Police Forces and Central Armed Police Forces in specialized counter-terrorism operations.

The curriculum focuses on building operational capability for high-risk missions through advanced physical conditioning, weapons proficiency, marksmanship, tactical intervention drills, and hostage rescue techniques. The initiative aims to create a pool of technically skilled commandos capable of handling demanding internal security roles.

The first batch includes 25 women constables from the Rajasthan Armed Constabulary’s 5th Battalion. Union Minister Annpurna Devi described the launch as a milestone for ‘Nari Shakti’, noting that the program seeks to empower women through leadership and opportunity while strengthening interoperability across India’s security architecture.
