NSW Government awards $500,000 to boost women and girls in sport

The New South Wales Government announced $500,000 in Play Her Way grants for 16 sporting organisations to increase participation, coaching and leadership opportunities for women and girls. Grants range from $3,000 to $45,000 and support projects such as Tri Her Way (a digital triathlon club for women aged 16‑25), Rugby Her Way (a development programme for female rugby players and coaches), AccelerateHER NSW (school programs and a regional rally school), CoachHer (coach‑development for women) and Her Track, Her Career (internships in the sports industry). NSW Minister for Sport Steve Kamper said the funding will help create more welcoming environments, while Minister for Women Jodie Harrison highlighted the aim of building inclusive sporting cultures.

Separately, Sydney Olympic Football Club received $77,000 from the NSW Government’s Game on for Change program to embed respectful, gender‑equitable leadership and deliver training for coaches, managers and staff. The club will work with Zahia Community Innovators to develop by‑stander skills and promote cultural change that prevents domestic, family and sexual violence.
