Australian grant programs for climate tech and sport clubs

In early July 2026 the New South Wales government announced a $400,000 grant package for 19 climate‑tech ventures focused on closing the gender funding gap, while the federal government launched a $50 million “Game On” scheme to fund up‑to‑500 community sport clubs with energy‑efficiency upgrades.

A few days later the Australian Football League and Telstra confirmed a four‑year extension of the Telstra Footy Grants, adding a $2 million annual pool that raises total investment to $16 million for regional and metropolitan clubs. In its first two years the scheme delivered $4 million to more than 1,000 clubs; the extension adds $8 million more. The same period saw New South Wales allocate over $3 million to the Game on for Change programme, with grants of $15,000‑$450,000 for sport‑based projects tackling domestic, family and sexual violence as part of the $38 million Pathways to Prevention strategy. A $449,000 sub‑allocation supports the Australian Rugby League Commission’s Game on for Respect initiative.

Later in July, NSW announced $500,000 in Play Her Way grants for 16 sporting organisations to expand participation, coaching and leadership opportunities for women and girls. Grants range from $3,000 to $45,000 and fund programmes such as Tri Her Way, Rugby Her Way, AccelerateHER NSW, CoachHer and Her Track Her Career. Additionally, Sydney Olympic Football Club received $77,000 from the Game on for Change programme to embed gender‑equitable leadership and by‑stander training aimed at preventing domestic and sexual violence.
