NSW Liberal Party faces ICAC corruption probe

The Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) has launched its largest inquiry in New South Wales, examining alleged invoice and contract links between Catholic Schools NSW and Liberal Party operatives. The investigation also looks at accusations that former Strathfield councillors used private investigators and shakedowns, and that developer Jean Nassif and businessman Michael O’Hara may have been involved in covert political donations.

The probe has triggered political fallout: senior Liberal figures such as Damien Tudehope have quit the front bench, and there are calls for other members, including Angus Taylor, to step down. NSW Liberal leader Kellie Sloane has faced criticism as the inquiry widens to cover education, local government and development sectors.
