NSW Swifts retain young talents Sophia Martinussen and Nicola Barge

The NSW Swifts have secured the continued involvement of two young players for upcoming seasons. Sophia Martinussen has re-signed as a Training Partner for the 2027 Super Netball season.

Martinussen, a 19-year-old shooter, previously played for the NSW U19s and the QBE Swifts Academy. She also gained international experience representing Australia’s U23 Pathway team during the Ocean of Power Tour in Samoa. Swifts Head Coach Dylan Nexhip noted her growth and natural shooting ability as key factors in her retention.

Additionally, goal shooter Nicola Barge is set to continue her progression with the club following a breakthrough 2026 season. After initially serving as a training partner, Barge was elevated to the squad and eventually made her Super Netball debut, starting in the team's final two games of the season.
