Learjet 60 crash in Florida: NTSB finds tail debris miles from impact site

Investigators are examining evidence of an in-flight breakup following the fatal crash of a Learjet 60 in Palm Beach County, Florida, on November 1, 2026. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) reported finding three pieces of the aircraft’s left horizontal stabilizer, or elevator, located between 1.3 and 3.8 miles from the primary crash site.

The aircraft, operated by Aurora Aviation, was traveling from Austin, Texas, to the Bahamas when it encountered light icing and moderate turbulence at 35,000 feet. Shortly after requesting a climb to 37,000 feet, the crew reported an emergency and a rapid descent. Flight data and radio transmissions indicate the plane plummeted at rates exceeding 10,000 feet per minute before striking a roadway near Greenacres.

All nine people on board were killed, including tech entrepreneur Adam Robinson, his wife Helen Sharp, their two children, two friends, a nanny, and two crew members. Debris from the aircraft also struck a nearby residence, with pieces of the plane reportedly penetrating a woman’s kitchen ceiling. The NTSB expects to release a preliminary report in approximately one month.
