Learjet 60 crash in Palm Beach County

Overview

On November 1, 2026, a Learjet 60 business jet, tail number N722BD, crashed into a residential area and roadway in Greenacres, Palm Beach County, Florida, while traveling from Austin, Texas, to North Eleuthera, Bahamas. All nine people on board were killed, including captain Jeff Gregory, co-pilot Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras, passengers Adam Robinson, his wife Helen Sharp, their children Emma and Charlie, nanny Anita Maria Cetina, and friends Rachael Reed and Charmi Fehr. Adam Robinson was the founder and CEO of technology companies Retention.com and RB2B.

The aircraft, operated by Aurora Aviation, began a rapid, uncontrolled descent after being cleared to climb to 37,000 feet. Air traffic control recordings captured the crew reporting light icing and moderate turbulence at approximately 35,000 feet. The crew declared an emergency due to an overspeed condition, with cockpit communications capturing statements such as, “We are going to hit the ground,” and “We’re out of time.” The jet experienced a rapid descent from approximately 35,250 feet to 8,750 feet in just over a minute.

Following the crash, the aviation community and the family of co-pilot Filgueiras have spoken out in her defense against online criticism regarding her experience level. Her father, professional pilot Allan Filgueiras, described her as a hero who fought until the end and noted her composure and professionalism during the final moments. Her former instructor, Chris Kirk, described her as the “most naturally gifted” student he had taught in 40 years. NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman also defended Filgueiras, stating she was performing her duties correctly. While Filgueiras’ attorney stated they are not making allegations at this time, they intend to review the NTSB findings and expert analysis. The NTSB continues to investigate the cause of the crash, including whether the aircraft broke apart in mid-air.
