NTT proposes international standardization for quantum and AI networks

NTT has reached an agreement at the ITU-T CxO Roundtable to continue international discussions regarding the standardization of future networks that connect quantum computers, AI infrastructure, and data centers.

During the meeting held in New Delhi, NTT proposed a framework for network architecture, interconnection, synchronization control, and operational management to enhance the value of quantum computing through interconnected systems. NTT also highlighted its IOWN (Innovative Optical and Wireless Network) concept and research into optical quantum computing.

Following this agreement, NTT will host the 2027 CxO Roundtable in Japan, marking the first time the event will be held in the country. The 2027 meeting is expected to bring together global telecommunications operators, vendors, research institutions, and government officials to discuss the future of information and communication infrastructure.
