NTT West and FUJITSU Technologies launch on-premises AI solution

FUJITSU Technologies and NTT West have completed operational verification for a new on-premises generative AI solution. The system combines the domestic Large Language Model (LLM) ‘tsuzumi 2’ with the ‘Private AI Platform on PRIMERGY’ to allow organizations to run AI without relying on cloud services.

This solution is specifically designed for sectors requiring high levels of information security, such as government agencies, research institutions, financial institutions, and manufacturing companies. By operating on local networks, sensitive data including research, design, and customer information can be processed without being sent externally.

tsuzumi 2’ is a lightweight model capable of running on a single GPU, offering a balance of high Japanese language processing capabilities and operational efficiency. The collaboration aims to address the growing demand for ‘sovereign AI,’ where data, models, and infrastructure are managed entirely within Japan to ensure data sovereignty and economic security. NTT West is scheduled to begin providing the solution in September 2026.
