Nu Holdings shares surge following record $1 billion quarterly net income
Nu Holdings shares rose approximately 6% to $15.32 following the announcement of record-breaking Q2 2026 financial results. The fintech company reported a net income between $1.06 billion and $1.1 billion, marking a 67% year-over-year increase and the first time its quarterly earnings have surpassed the $1 billion threshold. Revenue grew by roughly 52% compared to the previous year, and earnings per share exceeded Wall Street forecasts by 13%.
The strong performance prompted several financial institutions to upgrade their outlooks. Citi raised its rating from Sell to Buy with an $18 price target, while JPMorgan increased its target to $20. Other firms, including UBS and BTG Pactual, also issued bullish revisions. Additionally, the company announced a $1 billion share repurchase initiative.
Despite the growth, some analysts express caution regarding the company's valuation and cyclical risks. While Nu Holdings maintains high profitability and a 33% return on equity, concerns exist regarding its consumer-focused loan book in the event of a weakening Brazilian labor market or rising unemployment.
