Nuclea Energy to acquire Moltex Energy nuclear technology portfolio

Nuclea Energy Inc. has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the advanced nuclear technology portfolio of Moltex Energy. The acquisition follows a competitive bidding process and includes 80 granted patents across nine patent families.

The technology assets include the Stable Salt Reactor – Wasteburner (SSR-W), FLEX reactor technologies, and the Waste to Stable Salt (WATSS) used nuclear fuel recycling process. The WATSS technology aims to provide a scalable method to recycle used fuel, reducing long-term waste inventories while creating fuel for advanced reactors. This process recently completed a successful testing phase using CANDU fuel at Canadian Nuclear Laboratories.

Under the terms of the agreement, Nuclea Energy Canada Inc. will acquire the relevant technology assets and subsidiaries. Nuclea intends to maintain Moltex Energy Canada as a dedicated business focused on research, engineering, and regulatory development to support the acquired technologies.
