Nueva EPS appoints Roberto Solano Navarra as special interventor

The National Superintendency of Health has appointed Roberto José Tercero Solano Navarra as the new special interventor for Nueva EPS. This appointment is part of a forced administrative intervention scheduled to remain in effect until April 10, 2027.

The decision follows an investigation into the entity's administrative, financial, technical-scientific, and legal status. Key issues identified include significant financial management difficulties, an insufficient service network, and a failure to comply with official orders. Notably, Nueva EPS has not reported official information to the Superintendency since February 2024 and lacks certified financial statements for the years 2023, 2024, and 2025.

Operational challenges include rising debts and advances owed to the provider network, as well as delays in processing and auditing invoices. Regarding patient care, 51% of analyzed claims stem from three main issues: the denial of previously authorized technologies and services, difficulties in scheduling appointments, and delays in medical attention. Solano Navarra is required to submit a comprehensive diagnosis and a work plan within one month of assuming his role. Baker Tilly Colombia Ltda. has been designated as the controller to oversee the intervention.
