Nuevo Laredo Council Donates Land to IMSS for New Child Care Center

The municipal council of Nuevo Laredo unanimously approved the donation of a 2,825‑square‑meter municipal lot to the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) for constructing a new Center for Education and Child Care (CECI) in the Fraccionamiento El Progreso. The decision was announced by mayor Carmen Lilia Canturosas Villarreal, linking the project to state‑level initiatives championed by Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya and President‑candidate Claudia Sheinbaum to expand the national care system. The council also approved a temporary 100 % tax‑rate waiver on property tax fees for June 2026 to support local families.

The donated site, located on Ismael Villarreal Peña street beside the primary school “Centenario de la Constitución de 1917,” is intended to increase early‑childhood services for working families in the city.
