Nuevo Laredo launches $88 million Paso Vehicular to ease congestion

The municipal government of Nuevo Laredo, led by mayor Carmen Lilia Canturosas Villarreal, has begun construction of a new elevated vehicular bridge linking Paseo Colón with the Luis Donaldo Colosio boulevard. The project, valued at about 88.8 million pesos, aims to resolve a major traffic bottleneck in the city’s commercial corridor, cut travel times, and improve road safety for thousands of daily commuters. The bridge will feature deep‑pile foundations, reinforced columns, pretensioned girders, and concrete retaining walls, with additional terracing and pavement works. Officials say the infrastructure will benefit roughly 17 000 residents and support the economic activity of the Paseo Colón and Colosio corridors. Completion is targeted for December 2026. The mayor emphasized that the work is part of a broader plan to modernise the city’s mobility and accommodate its rapid growth.
