Nuevo Laredo implements educational connectivity and infrastructure programs

The municipal government of Nuevo Laredo, led by Mayor Carmen Lilia Canturosas Villarreal, has implemented several educational and social welfare initiatives. A key component is the ‘ConéctAT al Futuro’ program, which provides 10,000 university students with free mobile connectivity, including 14 GB of monthly data, unlimited social media, and free calls and messages.

In terms of infrastructure, the administration has intervened in over 250 schools across various levels, from kindergartens to universities. These improvements include the construction of new classrooms, bathrooms, and roofs to enhance learning environments. Additionally, the city offers various scholarships for sports, culture, and academic excellence.

Social welfare efforts also extend to student well-being. Through the Municipal Institute for the Prevention of Addictions, Conduct, and Antisocial Trends (IMPACTA), specialists are conducting school visits to address suicide prevention, addiction, and bullying. This includes the installation of anonymous reporting boxes to combat school harassment.

Separately, students from the Universidad Tecnológica de Tamaulipas Norte (UTTN) participated in the TOP Tamaulipas 2026 academic encounter, where they received certification in Artificial Intelligence fundamentals from the Oracle Academy.
