Nuevo Laredo launches free mobile connectivity program for university students
The Government of Nuevo Laredo has launched the ‘Conéctate al Futuro’ program, providing free mobile connectivity to university students. The initiative, led by Mayor Carmen Lilia Canturosas Villarreal, aims to support up to 10,000 students from institutions such as the Universidad Tecnológica de Nuevo Laredo (UT) and the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional (UPN).
Through a provided SIM card, beneficiaries receive 14 GB of monthly data, unlimited social media access, and free calls and messages to assist with academic research and projects. The municipal government is covering the cost of the mobile data to reduce the financial burden on families.
In addition to digital connectivity, the administration reported that it has intervened in more than 250 schools across various levels, including kindergartens, primary schools, and high schools. These interventions include infrastructure improvements such as the construction of new classrooms, bathrooms, and roofs.
