Nuevo Laredo launches municipal housing program for families

Mayor Carmen Lilia Canturosas Villarreal of Nuevo Laredo has launched the 'Hogar Propio, Patrimonio para Tu Familia' program to provide affordable housing for families in need. During her second government report, the mayor announced that the initiative is funded by municipal resources through the Instituto Municipal de Vivienda y Suelo Urbano (IMVISU).

The program aims to construct 115 homes in the El Progreso subdivision. The first 15 houses have already been delivered, with priority given to female heads of household, single mothers, and working women. Each property consists of 126 square meters of land and 60 square meters of construction, featuring two bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room, a bathroom, a laundry area, and a garage.

This municipal policy aligns with the broader welfare vision of Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, focusing on securing housing as a fundamental component of family stability and wealth building.
