Nuevo Laredo Mayor Canturosas Invests 7 Million Pesos in Schools

Municipal president Carmen Lilia Canturosas Villarreal of Nuevo Laredo delivered several educational infrastructure projects in the Villas de San Miguel neighborhood, investing more than 7 million pesos and serving roughly 15,000 residents.

Projects included a 1.8 million‑peso perimeter fence for the Ramón Barrios Arias kindergarten (171 m of wall, pilings, paint), a new roof for Technical Secondary School No. 95 “Manuel de Jesús Clouthier del Rincón” costing 4.8 million pesos covering 637 m² with metal structure, vigas, lighting, and drainage, and a 375 thousand‑peso refurbishment of the local community center’s electrical, waterproofing, and sanitary facilities.

The mayor said, “Investing in education is investing in the future of Nuevo Laredo,” and a student expressed, “Now we feel protected, we can run, play and learn without fear.” The municipal administration noted that total public‑works spending in Villas de San Miguel exceeds 178 million pesos.
