Nuevo Laredo mayor hands first homes to women heads of families

The municipal government of Nuevo Laredo marked the city's 178th anniversary with a large Father’s Day festival on June 21 at the Parque Viveros cultural space. The free event featured live music by La Ronda Machetera and Tropicalísimo Apache, a live broadcast of FIFA 2026 matches, and activities such as contests to win meat packages, all aimed at strengthening family bonds and community spirit.

A week earlier, Mayor Carmen Lilia Canturosas Villarreal inaugurated the first 15 houses of the “Hogar Propio, Patrimonio para Tu Familia” program. Built by the Institute of Municipal Housing and Urban Land (IMVISU), the homes for women heads of families include two bedrooms, a kitchen, and a garage. The mayor highlighted the project’s goal to construct a total of 115 homes in the El Progreso subdivision, expanding affordable housing for needy families in Nuevo Laredo.
