Nuevo Laredo mayor launches community services and housing aid for residents

Mayor Carmen Lilia Canturosas Villarreal headed a “Presidencia Cerquita de Ti” outreach in the Francisco Villa colonia, setting up municipal and state modules that offered medical consultations, nutrition advice, psychological support, women's services, vaccinations, health screenings, civil‑registry assistance and other public‑service functions. Hundreds of locals attended the event, which the mayor said aims to bring government services directly to neighborhoods.

In a separate ceremony, Canturosas delivered the first 15 homes of the “Hogar Propio: Un patrimonio para tu familia” program to women heads of families. The municipal housing initiative, managed by the Institute of Municipal Housing and Urban Land (IMVISU), targets 115 homes with an initial investment of more than 11 million pesos. Beneficiaries praised the security and stability the new homes provide, while the mayor highlighted support from the state governor and the national housing policy championed by President Claudia Sheinbaum.
