Nuevo Laredo expands concrete‑floor program for vulnerable families

The municipal government of Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, is urging residents to apply for the “Piso Firme” program, a social‑welfare initiative run by the Secretaría de Bienestar Social. The program replaces earthen floors with concrete slabs to improve housing quality and family assets. Secretary Liliana Arjona Barocio said there are still available slots and that applicants need only a valid ID, recent proof of address and a brief socioeconomic study. Applications can be submitted at the Secretariat’s office in the Anexo de Presidencia Municipal on Maclovio Herrera and Juárez, open from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The effort has already benefited many households, giving them more durable flooring and greater confidence in their homes.
