Nuevo Laredo upgrades traffic signals and plans multi‑level parking to ease congestion

The municipal government of Nuevo Laredo, led by President Carmen Lilia Canturosas Villarreal, is modernising urban mobility. Secretary of Primary Public Services Even Arredondo Bravo said the city is analysing, reordering and synchronising traffic lights on major avenues such as Reforma, Perú, Venezuela, González, Guerrero and Paseo Colón to improve flow during peak hours. The measures respond to rapid economic growth, increased vehicle registration through the REPUVE program and the arrival of new automotive agencies.

The Institute of Municipal Planning and Urban Development (IMPLADU), headed by José Lauro Villarreal, presented two parking projects: a four‑level garage beside the administrative tower “El Palomar” and another four‑level structure in front of the future planetarium. Together the facilities will provide space for more than 600 vehicles, incorporate sustainable design features and aim to reduce the parking deficit in the city centre. Both proposals are slated for review by the municipal government in the third quarter of the year.
