Nuevo León faces budget negotiations and calls for federal audits

In Nuevo León, government officials and federal legislators are addressing fiscal management and upcoming budgetary requirements. Miguel Ángel Flores Serna, the Secretary General of Government, has called on state legislators to prioritize the 2026 budget over political differences. Following requests from business organizations like CAINTRA, Flores Serna plans to convene a meeting with various legislative benches and business leaders at the State Treasury on September 2, once the legislative recess concludes.

Simultaneously, the Mexican Congress has advanced an exhortation requesting that the Superior Auditor of the Federation (ASF) review federal funds transferred to the Nuevo León government. This request, promoted by Morena deputy Alfonso Ramírez Cuéllar, seeks a technical investigation into potential overruns, corruption allegations, and the misuse of public funds. The proposed audit aims to verify the legality and transparency of contracts related to public works and service provision under the administration of Governor Samuel García.
