Numan Kurtulmuş conducts diplomatic meetings in Rome
Turkish Grand National Assembly Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş engaged in high-level diplomatic meetings in Rome during the Conference of Speakers of European Parliaments. In a meeting with Italian Chamber of Deputies President Lorenzo Fontana, Kurtulmuş emphasized the need to advance strategic and economic relations between Turkey and Italy, noting satisfaction with increasing trade volumes and investments.
During discussions, Kurtulmuş addressed regional security, specifically calling for an end to Israeli military actions in Gaza, which he characterized as inhumane. He also discussed the Russia-Ukraine war and its impact on European security. Additionally, Kurtulmuş met with Moldovan Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu to discuss bilateral relations and the role of Gagauz Turks in strengthening the bond between Turkey and Moldova.
Regarding European Union relations, Kurtulmuş expressed a desire to revisit the partnership between Turkey and the EU on strategic grounds, despite facing what he described as double standards in the membership process.
