Nurse Carmine Sirica dies after Cassino apartment explosion

Carmine Sirica, a 54-year-old nurse, has died following a violent explosion that occurred on Monday, August 24, in an apartment in Cassino. The blast, which investigators believe may have been caused by a gas leak, resulted in severe second and third-degree burns over 90% of Sirica's body.

After being treated at the Sant’Eugenio hospital in Rome, Sirica was later transferred to the San Pio hospital in Benevento, where he passed away. His partner, Katia Adinolfi, a healthcare worker, remains hospitalized in serious condition. Local community members and Benevento football ultras have expressed widespread solidarity and grief following his death.
