Nurse Chani Knopf dies following road accident in Italy
Chani Knopf, a 32-year-old nurse from the Illawarra region, has passed away following a road accident in Italy. Knopf, a University of Wollongong graduate, was visiting Italy for a friend's wedding when she was struck by a car while using a pedestrian crossing.
After suffering a catastrophic brain injury, Knopf remained in a coma and passed away peacefully on September 3, surrounded by her parents and friends. Following her death, she has continued to impact others through organ donation.
Friends and family are honoring her memory by encouraging others to ‘take chances, love deeply and live life to the full.’ A fundraiser has been established by her best friend to support Knopf's parents.
