Nurse assaulted in Ciudad Real while defending patient

A nurse at the Agudo Health Centre in Ciudad Real was assaulted while attempting to protect a patient from her son. The incident occurred during a consultation regarding the renewal of monthly medication.

The young man reportedly became verbally aggressive toward his mother before physically attacking her, striking her in the head and face and kicking her while she was on the ground. When the nurse intervened to assist the patient, the assailant turned his violence toward her, delivering punches and kicks that left her with bruises on her eye, chin, collarbone, arms, and legs.

The assailant, who reportedly has mental health issues, was subdued by others at the center and detained by the Guardia Civil. The nurse, a professional with 35 years of experience, has filed a complaint and obtained a restraining order. The nursing union SATSE and the Agudo City Council have both condemned the attack, calling for zero tolerance and better protection for healthcare workers.
