Nursing apprentices in Germany reach record-high training wages
Nursing apprentices in Germany have reached record-high training wages, according to a study by the WSI of the Hans-Böckler-Stiftung. In the first year of training within the public service sector for federal and municipal levels, apprentices earn 1,491 euros. This surpasses wages in the insurance sector (1,455 euros) and the private banking sector (1,400 euros).
Earnings continue to rise in subsequent years, with second-year apprentices earning 1,552 euros and third-year apprentices earning 1,653 euros. Additionally, data from the Federal Statistical Office indicates that full-time healthcare workers earn approximately 1,200 euros gross more than they did ten years ago. The nursing minimum wage is also projected to increase by 5.2 percent between July 2026 and September 2028.
