Nursing apprentices in Germany receive record wages
Nursing apprentices in Germany are now receiving record-high wages, according to a study by the Hans-Böckler-Stiftung. In the first year of training within the public service sector, apprentices earn approximately 1,491 euros monthly, surpassing wages in the insurance and private banking sectors. Earnings continue to rise through the third year of training, reaching up to 1,653 euros. This wage increase comes amid a growing demand for healthcare services due to an aging and increasingly ill population.
Parallel to professional developments, the burden on family caregivers is rising. Many relatives transition from providing occasional support to managing full-time care, acting as organizers, administrators, and emotional pillars. In regions like Kreis Unna, specialized counseling services are being utilized to help families navigate insurance benefits, medical coordination, and home adaptations to alleviate the physical and emotional strain on these unpaid caregivers.
