Nursing Education and Management Programs Highlighted in Austria and Germany
The Carinthia University of Applied Sciences (FH Kärnten) in Austria introduced two bachelor programmes – Health and Nursing as well as Health and Nursing Management – aimed at addressing the growing demand for qualified nursing staff amid digitalisation, demographic change and rising quality standards. The curricula combine practical patient care training with leadership, quality‑management and organisational skills, and the university also offers master‑level studies for future senior roles in healthcare institutions.
In Germany, author Carola Widdershoven published the book *Generationenmanagement in der Pflege*, released by GRIN Imprint Academic Plus. The work examines how Baby Boomers, Generation X and Millennials work together in nursing teams, offering research‑based recommendations, checklists and models to help managers foster collaboration, improve communication and retain staff. The book targets nursing leaders, educators and students seeking to adapt management practices to a multigenerational workforce.
