NU’s 35th Muktamar scheduled for Aug 27‑31 2026 in Jombang, Indonesia

The 35th Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Muktamar will be held from 27 to 31 August 2026 at Pondok Pesantren Bahrul Ulum Tambakberas in Jombang, Indonesia. A detailed site plan covering 26 locations – including the opening field, plenary hall, commission rooms, health facilities and accommodation – has been finalized to guide participants, guests, committee members and media. Local committee chair KH Abdurrozaq Sholeh said, “Alhamdulillah site plan sudah kita selesaikan atau final… Semua titik sudah kita petakan… agar muktamar ini benar-benar tertib, nyaman, gembira dan membawa berkah.”

An analysis of the leadership network highlights Prof. Dr. KH Nasaruddin Umar, Indonesia’s Minister of Religious Affairs, as a prominent figure potentially positioned for NU’s top post. The study mapped 38 provincial PWNU chairs, finding 17 with backgrounds in the Ministry of Religious Affairs or state Islamic universities (PTKIN), covering about 40.8% of the organization’s senior leadership. This underscores the influence of the ministry and PTKIN network within NU’s governance structure.
