Nusa Tenggara Timur earthquake relief efforts intensify
Relief efforts are underway in Nusa Tenggara Timur, Indonesia, following a 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck Flores on August 15, 2026. The disaster caused fatalities, destroyed thousands of homes, and severed vital infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and telecommunications, leading to mass displacement.
Global mobility platform inDrive has partnered with the humanitarian organization Human Initiative to deliver aid to isolated and severely affected areas, specifically targeting the Mauponggo and Aesesa districts in Nagekeo Regency, as well as Manggarai and East Manggarai.
Additionally, the Coordinating Ministry for Food (Kemenko Pangan) has distributed approximately Rp1.7 billion in aid through the Sahabat Pangan Peduli NTT program. This assistance includes Rp990 million in cash and Rp710 million in goods, distributed across Ngada, Nagekeo, Ende, Sikka, and East Manggarai. The funds support local government recovery efforts, religious institutions, and affected families.
