NuScale Power stock drops 83% from 52-week high as revenue declines

NuScale Power has seen its stock price drop approximately 83% from its 52-week high of $57.42 reached last October, with shares recently trading near $9.50. This decline follows a significant reduction in revenue; the company reported just $75,000 in the second quarter, a sharp decrease from the $8.1 million earned during the same period the previous year.

The revenue drop is attributed to the completion of engineering work for a project in Romania in late 2025, with no new contracts currently signed to replace those fees. During this period, NuScale’s share count has increased significantly, rising from a weighted average of 133 million Class A shares to approximately 365 million. The company has also filed to sell up to $750 million in additional stock to fund operations, though it maintains a cash reserve of $1.9 billion.

Despite the financial volatility, NuScale remains the only small modular reactor (SMR) developer with a design certified by U.S. regulators. Key potential projects remain in discussion, including a possible power purchase agreement with the Tennessee Valley Authority and the ongoing RoPower project in Romania, which is currently navigating shareholder vote conditions.
