NuScale Power stock swings amid analyst revisions

NuScale Power shares rose 3.3% on Tuesday, reaching $8.69 before settling at $8.63, on trading volume about 23.8 million shares. Analyst activity includes Weiss Ratings reaffirming a sell rating, UBS cutting its price target to $13, Truist initiating coverage with a hold rating and a $10 target, B. Riley assigning a buy rating with a $19 target, and HSBC issuing a hold with a $13 target. The consensus rating is hold with an average price target of $15.46. Recent earnings showed a loss of $0.14 per share, missing estimates, with revenue of $0.56 million – a 95.8% year‑over‑year decline – and a negative net margin of 2,066.55%.

The company’s stock has fallen more than 80% since last summer, trimming its market value to under $4 billion. NuScale remains the first firm to receive NRC design approval for its small modular reactor (SMR) technology in 2020 and an upscaled design in 2025. Its most notable near‑term opportunity is a partnership with the Tennessee Valley Authority on a 6‑gigawatt SMR project in the eastern United States, though construction is not expected for at least three years and no facility is forecast to operate before the decade’s end. Investors face continued volatility as the stock’s trajectory depends on contract announcements, regulatory developments, and progress on commercializing the SMR technology.
