Nut consumption linked to 26% reduction in blood pressure risk
A meta-analysis published by Plant-Based Health Professionals UK and Imperial College London indicates that regular nut consumption can significantly reduce the risk of high blood pressure. Based on data from over 143,000 individuals across eight cohort studies, the research shows that consuming approximately 30 grams of nuts daily can lead to a 26% reduction in hypertension risk.
Nutrition experts, including Matthias Riedl, note that targeted dietary choices can lower blood lipid levels by 10% to 20%, and in some cases up to 50%. Maintaining healthy cholesterol levels is critical for preventing chronic conditions such as fatty liver, diabetes, and arteriosclerosis. Experts recommend a daily intake of a handful of unsalted, unroasted nuts to support cardiovascular health, a finding supported by the PREDIMED study.
