Nutanix launches MCP server to automate hybrid cloud with AI
Nutanix has introduced a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for its Nutanix Cloud Platform (NCP). This open-source solution is designed to bridge the gap between agentic AI assistants and hybrid multicloud infrastructure.
The MCP server acts as a secure gateway, allowing AI tools and assistants—such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, and Cursor—to interact with organizational infrastructure using natural language. These requests are translated into precise actions via the Nutanix Prism v4 API.
A key feature of the implementation is the integration of existing security policies and access controls. This ensures that while AI agents can automate routine operations, such as system status analysis and diagnostic information retrieval, they do so within the established governance framework of the enterprise. To prevent unauthorized changes in production environments, the company has also proposed a human oversight model.
