Nuvei to Acquire Payoneer for $2.75 B, Integrating Stablecoins into Global Payments

Payments firm Nuvei has agreed to purchase cross‑border platform Payoneer for $2.75 billion in cash. The transaction, slated to close in mid‑2027 pending shareholder and regulator sign‑off, will combine Nuvei’s merchant‑acquiring, FX, risk‑management and licensing capabilities with Payoneer’s payout network and real‑time settlement in more than 150 markets.

Both companies say the deal will embed stablecoin functionality into their existing payment stack, allowing token‑based settlement to run through established merchant relationships, compliance checks and local payout rules. Payoneer brings regulatory assets such as a mainland‑China payment licence and in‑principle authorisation in India, while Nuvei adds a platform that supports 150 currencies and global acquiring.

The combined entity is projected to generate about $3 billion in annual revenue, process over $500 billion in payment volume for more than 2.4 million customers, and operate across 190+ countries and territories. Stablecoin volume remains undisclosed, but the deal signals mainstream payment processors moving stablecoin capabilities from a bypass‑the‑rails concept into back‑end infrastructure.
