Nvidia authorizes $235 billion in stock buybacks through 2028
Nvidia has authorized a massive share repurchase plan, adding $150 billion to its existing authorization for a total of $235 billion in buybacks planned through January 2028. This move follows significant growth in the company's data center segment, which has reached a $356 billion run rate due to high demand for AI-related graphics processing units (GPUs).
Alongside the buyback announcement, Nvidia increased its quarterly dividend from $0.01 to $0.25 per share. Recent financial reports indicate the company returned $26 billion to shareholders last quarter through a combination of dividends and buybacks.
Institutional investors continue to adjust their positions in the chipmaker. Iyo Bank Ltd. increased its stake by 29.7% during the second quarter, while Westpac Banking Corp boosted its position by 3.5% in the same period.
