Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang to inaugurate AI factory in Barcelona

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is set to visit Barcelona on October 13 to inaugurate a new artificial intelligence factory at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC). The project, which involves the expansion of the MareNostrum 5 supercomputer using Nvidia’s Blackwell chips, is a collaborative effort funded by the European Union, Spanish administrations, Portugal, and Turkey. The facility aims to provide AI services to small and medium-sized enterprises and public administrations.

Parallel to these technological expansions, Huang’s leadership style at Nvidia has drawn attention. He employs a rigorous management approach characterized by daily criticism and long working hours, which he describes as a form of ‘torture’ intended to drive employees toward greatness. Despite this intense culture, Nvidia maintains a remarkably low employee turnover rate of 2.5%, significantly below the semiconductor industry average. This internal discipline coincides with massive financial growth, with the company reporting quarterly revenues of $96.2 billion, a 106% increase from the previous year, driven largely by data center demand.
