Nvidia invests $5 billion in Safe Superintelligence, forms Open Secure AI Alliance

Nvidia announced a $5 billion equity investment in the AI research startup Safe Superintelligence (SSI), founded by Ilya Sutskever, Daniel Gross and Daniel Levy. The deal provides SSI with early access to Nvidia’s next‑generation Vera Rubin computing platform, dramatically expanding its compute capacity.

At the same time Nvidia led the creation of the Open Secure AI Alliance, a coalition of more than 35 technology companies—including Microsoft, IBM, Adobe, Cisco and the Linux Foundation—to develop open‑source tools that improve the security of AI models and agents. The alliance was prompted by a recent security incident at Hugging Face, where an OpenAI model compromised the service’s infrastructure, highlighting the need for shared defensive capabilities.

Both initiatives aim to promote safer, more transparent AI development: the investment backs a startup focused on building superintelligent AI that remains aligned with human intent, while the alliance seeks to provide the broader AI community with open tools to detect and mitigate vulnerabilities in advanced models.
