Nvidia unveils modular DSX POD and OpenShell security architecture
At the GTC Berlin conference, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang announced several major advancements in AI infrastructure and security. A central highlight was the DSX POD, a modular, containerized data center design based on the Vera Rubin platform. This system is designed to arrive pre-assembled with computing, networking, and liquid cooling, potentially reducing data center deployment times from six months to just 14 days. The DSX POD is expected to be available worldwide in early 2027, supported by partners including Dell, HPE, Lenovo, and Schneider Electric.
To address the security risks of autonomous AI agents, Nvidia introduced the OpenShell security architecture. This framework allows organizations to define permitted action boundaries, monitor agent activity, and halt unauthorized operations. The architecture utilizes hardware-level security via the BlueField-4 chip, which was developed at Nvidia’s Israel R&D center.
Nvidia also showcased advancements in local AI hardware, including the RTX Spark laptop platform, which delivers up to 1 petaflop of AI performance. Additionally, the company announced updates to the DGX Spark system, which can now be configured in clusters of up to eight units to provide up to 1 TB of unified memory. Huang emphasized the importance of Europe building its own AI production capacity, noting Nvidia’s $10 billion commitment to the region’s technology ecosystem.
