NVIDIA launches RTX Remix 1.5 compression tools and RTX 5000 laptop GPUs for high‑performance gaming

NVIDIA released RTX Remix 1.5, integrating RTX IO compression into the mod‑packaging workflow. The update reduces the size of Half‑Life 2 RTX from 80 GB to 50 GB—a 37.5% cut—and similarly shrinks Portal RTX projects. New features include automatic Smooth Normals generation, a unified lighting UI and AI‑generated coding guides for modders.

In parallel, NVIDIA introduced its RTX 5000 series of laptop graphics cards built on the Blackwell 2.0 architecture. Starting with the RTX 5060 and extending to the RTX 5070/5070 Ti, the chips offer DLSS 4 with Multi‑Frame Generation and fourth‑generation ray tracing, enabling titles such as Cyberpunk 2077 to exceed 270 fps at 4K with all effects active. Pricing ranges from €1,200 to over €5,000, and the GPUs are already featured in Alienware 16 Aurora laptops.
