Nvidia launches Spectrum-6 networking switch for gigascale AI factories
Nvidia announced its Spectrum‑X Ethernet networking platform, highlighted by the new Spectrum‑6 switch capable of 102.4 terabits per second. The switch, part of the Vera Rubin AI architecture, is designed to interconnect millions of GPUs while cutting power use and operating costs. Nvidia reported networking revenue of $11 billion, up 263 % year‑over‑year, and CEO Jensen Huang claimed the company is now the largest networking firm globally.
Early adopters such as CoreWeave, Microsoft, Nebius, SpaceX AI and Tesla plan to integrate Spectrum‑6 into their AI factories. The platform combines high‑capacity switches, SuperNICs, DPUs and silicon‑photonic cabling to deliver higher bandwidth, lower latency and greater resilience for training frontier models and deploying inference services at unprecedented scale.
